Summer Chairlift Rides

There are four ski resorts in the mountains surrounding Taos. But the fun doesn’t end when the snow melts. Escape the summer heat by taking a chairlift ride to the top of one of these mountains. Hike down, or take it easy and make it a round-trip chair ride. (Photo by Southern Exposure in Red River.)

Angel Fire Resort
Experience Angel Fire from on high. Ride more than two miles to one of New Mexico’s highest peaks, where you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the valley from 10,650 feet. Once you’re up there, take time to hike around the groomed trails or enjoy a big picnic lunch. You can always work it off by hiking your way back down!

If you’re bringing two wheels up the lift with you, some of the greatest mountain biking terrain on earth is waiting for you! Test yourself on the cross-country trail to the summit or fly down the mountain on our World Cup downhill trails.

Summer 2015 chairlift schedule to be annouced.
Chairlift prices: All Day Adults (13-64): $12. Kids (4-12): $8, Kids under 4: FREE. Active Military and Seniors (65+): $10

Red River Ski Area
Reconnect with family and loved ones this summer while cruising approximately 1,600 vertical feet to the top of Red River Ski Area. Participate in a game of disc golf, strap your mountain bikes to the back of the Platinum chairlift, unload, and cruise down the mountain on a variety of trails, hike around Red River Ski Area and have lunch at the Lift House Bar and Grill or at The Tip Restaurant (located at the top of the ski area), or just catch a round trip ride and enjoy the simplicity and beauty of the mountains.

This simple enjoyment includes breathtaking views of: Carson National Forest, The Town of Red River, New Mexico native vegetation, and grasses and surrounding mountains. Your senses will be enlightened with the fresh scent of wildflowers, crisp mountain air, sounds of gurgling streams, wild birds, the gentle mountain breeze, and more. Prior to arrival remember to dress in layers as temperatures shall vary, apply plenty of sunscreen, have plenty of water, proper shoes for hiking. Rain resistant gear is always a plus due to our mountain weather and regular afternoon rains.
